What is Information Systems?

Information Systems is a relatively new subject area constituting a cross-cutting discipline between Business Administration and Computer Science. Other relevant disciplines include Social Sciences, Psychology and Systems Sciences. Information Systems specialists team up with users to identify information systems requirements, developing solutions in collaboration with programmers. This may result in new software products or improved operational processes. In this connection, Information Systems specialists play a very communicative role.
